UD
Manilva-Sabinillas
Away from the bright lights of Primera Liga, grass
roots football is just as popular in Spain as it is in the the rest
of Europe. There are several local leagues and our home team, Union
Deportiva Manilva-Sabinillas, is currently in Primera Andaluza Group
3 along with Estepona, Ronda and Torremolinos to name but a few.
UD
Manilva play their home matches at the newly refurbished Las Viñas
Campo de Futbol in Manilva. In late 2004 the entire pitch was taken
up and replaced with a state-of-the-art artificial playing surface,
along with improved changing and spectator facilities.
Matches are normally played on a Sunday and timings
vary, snacks and drinks can be bought at the grounds, and there
is generally a good atmosphere at all matches. Match tickets cost
a few euros only.
The season runs from September through to the end
of April and the top team in the league gains promotion to the Spanish
national third division.
