The last local elections were held in May 2003 and saw two new local parties contesting for the popular vote. The PDEM (Partido Democratica de Manilva) Manilva Democratic Party, headed by Pedro Tirado and consisting mainly of members of the GIL party who polled the most votes in the previous election of 1999, and the ASM - Agrupacion Socialista Manilva Manilva Socialist Group, a splinter group from the PSOE, led by Emilio Lopez.
Here is the breakdown of the voting as published by the Spanish Interior Ministry: Total registered population - 6,270 Electoral roll (eligible voters) - 5,066 Number of voters 3,889 representing 76.77% of the eligible vote.
