Repairs to MA-545 Manilva/Sabinillas road top priority Print

The Mayor of Manilva, Salvador Zotano, met recently with Manuel Pinelle, the head of Malaga Province's departmental head responsible for infrastructure works, to demand the immediate repairs and improvements to the MA-545 road which connects Sabinillas and Manilva.

As a result of the meeting the local delegation announced that the works will go ahead as soon as the procedural processes have been followed (public exhibition of plans, and invitations to tender, etc.)

The total cost of these works is estimated to be in the region of 40,000 euros.

In the mean time signs will be erected to warn of the presence of speed limitations, dangerous curves and the current bad state of the road surface.

Also in attendance at this meeting was the chief engineer for the Manilva area, Andrés Navarro, who pointed out that this route now carries considerably more traffic since it is now the principal access to the toll road, and as such carries much more commercial traffic than in previous years. Also the development works in and around the town of Manilva have also led to an increase in heavy vehicles using this artery.

The Town Council of Manilva have carried out running repairs over the last few years to alleviate some of the worst problems, but this road is the responsibility of the Provincial Government in Malaga.
