Presenting the local Civil Protection force
Manilva’s Civil Defense force was officially unveiled in an act which
took place at the Villa Matilda last month. In attendance was the Mayor, Salvador
Zotano, in his role of head of security, Councillor Rafael Mena, the council
officer in charge of security, Juan Jesus Jiménez and Local Police Chief,
Francisco Luque, amongst other municipal officers.
This service will comprise a total of 57 volunteers, of which 29 have already
received their uniforms after having completed their basic training at the Andalucia
School of Public Security. During the presentation the Mayor thanked these volunteers
and expressed his thanks that “In such a materialistic world as we live
in, it deserves high praise that so many local citizens are prepared to volunteer
their free time for the benefit of the community”.
The objective of the next few months is to equip and train all the volunteer
members of the Civil Protection Service.
The service entered operation a few weeks back when the Civil Protection Force
took part in the search for a Marbella resident suffering from Alzheimers, who
went missing, fortunately to be found safe and sound in Mijas.
