Schoolchildren see stars!
Towards the end of February local schoolchildren were treated to a unique opportunity
to learn more about the universe thanks to the Councillor for Culture and Education,
Francisco Miguel Alvarez who, along with the manager of the Sabinillas branch
of La Caixa bank, arranged for the La Caixa sponsored mobile planetarium to
visit Manilva.
The mobile planetarium was set up in the old sports hall in Manilva and over
a period of 4 days was visited by 400 students from both primary schools and
the secondary school who were given a display of the Solar System, the Milky
Way, various constellations and over 500 stars thanks the mobile planetariums
special projector.
Councillor Alvarez informed us that this was just one of a number of initiatives
organised by the Education and Culture Department to bring a diverse range of
educational resources to Manilva’s schoolchildren. |
