New Tuesday market for the village of Castillo
Councillor Pedro Medina, the Town Hall’s commercial director has inaugurated
a new public market for the Castillo de la Duquesa area of Manilva which will
be held every Tuesday.
The initiative has already been declared a great success by both the traders
already serving the market, and the local residents who have long desired for
the establishing of a market in this area.
Councillor Medina indicated that the aim of the market is to supply a wide
range of products and services to the people of Castillo and the neighbouring
urbanisations and cut down the need to travel elsewhere for their shopping.
The Tuesday market will also serve to revitalise Castillo as a commercial centre
and will bring more people to the area’s shops, bars and restaurants.
Councillor Medina anticipates that the number of traders will increase as time
goes on, and has also made provisions for an expanded market for the summer
months to cater for the increased demand due to the large number of visitors
to the area.
The Mayor, Salvador Zotano has congratulated the councillor responsible for
this initiative, as not only does it make it easier for the consumers in the
area to do their shopping but also improves the economy of this zone by acting
as a stimulus for commercial activity in Castillo and Puerto de la Duquesa.
