Manilva Short Mat Bowling Club (MSMBC) was inaugurated in late 2005 thanks
to an initiative by local residents and the Councillor for EU Citizens and Foreigners,
Rafael Mena, whose department provided the funding for the equipment as well
as supplying the venue. The Manilva Short Mat Bowling Club is open to anyone
of any nationality who is interested in this friendly, social and competitive
sport.
Short mat bowls is played in broadly the same way, and provides the same enjoyment,
and has the same attractions as lawn bowls and many players participate in both
games. The bowls themselves and the smooth soled heel less footwear are the
same as those used outdoors.
