The population census for Manilva shows an increase of 16.7 percent on last
year
The publication of this year’s report by the National Institute of Statistics
reveals that the number of residents registered in the municipality of Manilva
has risen by 16.7 percent on last year’s figures.
According to official figures Manilva has a registered population of 9,624
as of January 2005, whereas the figure for the same period in the previous year
was 8,245.
This increase in population is much higher than in some of Manilva’s
neighbouring municipalities, with Estepona registering an increase of 8.3 percent,
and Casares an increase over the last year of 5.3 percent.
This growth is reflected right throughout the Province of Malaga, which has
the fifth highest growth in the country, and is only surpassed by ever-growing
cities of Madrid and Barcelona as well as the Costa Blanca provinces of Valencia
and Alicante.
The Province of Malaga has registered a 3.97 percent increase in population,
adding 55,500 new residents to its population of 1.5 million. This increase
though has not been evenly spread throughout the province, with 80 percent of
the increase appearing on the electoral roll (Padron) of town on the Costa del
Sol.
