Manilva Town Council apply for Government Grant of 1.16 million euros for
the Agromanilva Training Workshop
The Town Council of Manilva, through FUNMADES – the Foundation for the
Development of Manilva – has put in an application to the Andalucian Employment
Service for a grant of 1.16 million euros for the purpose of setting up the
Training Workshop Agromanilva.
The scheme aims to undertake a number of major projects including the development
of a park, as well as municipal nurseries to supply all of Manilva’s planting
requirements.
Rafael Mena head of Manilva’s Department of Employment Development explained
that the intention is for Agromanilva is to take on 50 youngsters from the Manilva
area and to teach them the necessary skills such as horticulture, agriculture,
plumbing and gardening through practical work, whilst at the same time receiving
a wage, and providing a valuable local resource.
The grant will also enable various other projects such as the reforestation
of the area adjacent to the old Manilva-San Roque Road, repairs and improvements
to many of the old country tracks (caminos), river margins and other gardens
in the municipality.
Rafael Mena emphasised the importance of this scheme which will use the area’s
young residents to play a major part in improving the environment and local
facilities for all of us.
