The Town Council Signs an Agreement with the Internet Portal Manilva Life
The Mayor of Manilva, Salvador Zotano, the Councillor for EU and Foreign Citizens,
Rafael Mena and the proprietor of an English language internet portal, Gary
Beaumont, have signed a collaboration agreement by which all municipal information
will be made available to all foreign residents of Manilva through the website
www.manilvalife.com.
According to Rafael Mena, the aim of this agreement is that these foreign residents,
which makes up almost 30% of Manilva’s total population, will have access
to all the information, initially in English but ultimately in other languages,
that will enable them to participate fully in public and political matters as
well as to integrate in the social and cultural life of Manilva, with the main
focus being on workers, businesses and tourists from the European Union member
states.
The Manilva Town Council has acknowledged the important contribution that new
technology, in particular the internet, can make. And so, in addition to the
information available on the Municipality’s own webpage, currently being
modified, they will provide all the necessary information through this independent
portal which has a large number of English speaking visitors both at home and
abroad.
Rafael Mena does not discount the possibility of extending this supply of information
to other European languages as well as incorporating into the site, www.manilvalife.com,
not only fiscal news, but articles on legislation, calendars and anything that
can be considered of interest and value, and to provide an effective public
service.
Also in the future, it will include job vacancies and information in relation
to self-employment, setting up a business, hiring personnel, investment, consolidation
and job creation, etc.
The Mayor, Salvador Zotano, recognises the important effort developed by the
Department for European Union and Foreign Citizens and that “through this
internet portal, www.manilvalife.com Manilva is a pioneering municipality in
Spain, making this facility available to the non Spanish speaking members of
the community”.
