The Five Architects Shortlisted to Design the New Town Hall to Submit their
Entries by 30th September
The successful companies who were selected to submit designs for the new Town
Hall Building, to be built on the site of the old television studios in Manilva,
had until the end of September to present their projects for judging.
These five finalists were selected, from an original group of ten who entered
proposals, by a panel of judges which included the Mayor of Manilva - Pedro
Tirado, the municipal architect – Gaspar Román, the officer in
charge of compiling the Urban Planning Document – Damien Quero, the corporation
secretary – Joaquin de Salas, and the architect for the Joint Community
of Western Costa del Sol Municipalities – Antonio Herrezuelo, which sat
on the 7th September.
The five finalists were: Arquitectos Asociaciones y José Seguí
with their project entitled “Mediterranean”; the architects Mercedes
Romero and José Carlos Mariñas Luis and their presentation “The
Enchanted Garden”; Jorge Chacón Jiménez whose submission
is entitled “Branches 2025”; Susana Jurada Castilla and her proposal
“DOSM” and finally Francesco Fabio Costa whose project “V64”
completes the field.
One of these finalists’s designs will be chosen by the panel on the 8th
October after which the winner will provide the basic project drawings by the
29th November and subsequently the Mayor of Manilva, Pedro Tirado, will invite
tenders for the construction works.
It is hoped that construction will begin early next year as this project is
seen as being vital to bring most of the council departments under one roof
where they can better serve the local community.
