The Mayoress of Manilva, Antonia Muñoz, has ordered that restrictions be placed on internet access on council computers, allowing only those sites that relate directly to the work of any individual department.
According to the authorities, this action has been taken in the interests of productivity, and as a result of concerns that council office staff were spending too much time visiting websites that had no relevance to their work.
Although it is not envisaged that this move will have a noticeable economic impact, it is hoped that it will improve productivity with employees attending to their work and not the world wide web.
