Like most towns in Spain Manilva holds an annual Romeria, or pilgrimage. The Romeria in honour of Ntra Señora de Fátima (Our Lady of Fatima) will be celebrated this year on the weekend of the 17 and 18th of May, at the San Adolfo Chapel by the Baños de la Hedionda Roman baths.
The celebrations are organished by the Manilva Cultural Delagation in collaboration with the Cofradia Ntra. Sra. de los Dolores y Ntro. Padre Jesús Nazareno Brotherhood. The programme is as follows: Saturday, 17th MayAt the 7.00 pm the image of the Saint will be transported in procession to the Ermita San Adolfo chapel. From 10 pm there will be music and dancing in the Chapel grounds until the early hours of the morning. There is a bar provided by the Brotherhood. Sunday, 18th MayAt 1 pm Mass will be celebrated in honour of Our Lady of Fatima in the Chapel grounds. The Manilva Municipal Choir will take participate in the ceremony, after which there will be live music during the afternoon. The local authorities have prepared the area for the revellers who choose to camp here for the weekend, and have requested that all those doing so respect the environment and keep the area clean and tidy. |
