At a press conference on Monday, 14th April, the Manilva Town Council presented the project to build a Palacio de Ferias y Congresos in Manilva.

This exhibition and performance venue is to be built on a 2,445 square metre plot of land at the Recinto Ferial (fairground) on the Rio Manilva Road and will have a floor area of some 1,400 square metres.

The construction will be a mixture of steel and laminated wood beams with polycarbonate cladding, and works are expected to being in the next month or two, with completion anticipated early next year.

The estimated 950,000 euros cost of the project has been justified by the fact that the local authorities currently spend about 250,000 euros annually on marquees for various events such as the New Year’s party, Carnival, International Festival, Summer Fair, etc. The Palacio de Ferias y Congresos will provide a venue for a whole host of existing and new touristic, cultural, and commercial events and will be a valuable asset to Manilva’s infrastructure.
