After a number of delays, the Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Carmen church in Castillo de la Duquesa was finally officially opened today Sunday, 20th April.
The ceremony was attended by the local council, including members of the opposition, as well as over a hundred local residents. After the Mayoress of Manilva, Antonia Muñoz, cut the ribbon the ceremony moved inside. The first official Mass was officiated by the Bishop of Malaga, Antonio Dorado Soto, accompanied by Manilva’s Parish priest, Manuel Roldán. As well as the local parish church the building also houses a children’s nursery school (guarderia) which is due to open for its first intake in the next school year beginning this September.
