The Mayoress of Manilva, Antonia Muñoz, has lamented the Junta de Andalucia Regional Health Service’s apparent lack of interest in problems facing Manilva’s overstretched medical service.
A meeting between Muñoz and the Junta de Andalucia’s Health Delegate, María Antigua Escalera, which had been arranged to take place in Estepona just recently was called off at the last minute due to a ‘diary conflict’. Undeterred, the Mayoress is to write to the delegation, stressing the seriousness of the situation, and that the Town Hall cannot continue to fund essential services out of local coffers, when these are the responsibility of the Junta. There is also the matter of the payment for the equipping and the running of the new Sabinillas Health Centre, which again was the agreement reached with the Regional Health Authorities, but still hasn’t materialised, and as a result this vital facility remains closed. |
