Manilva Suns in action

This coming Sunday, 18th November at 12 Midday in the Las Viñas Stadium in Manilva the Manilva SUNS play host to the second round of the Andalucian Championship. Their opponents, a historic team within American Football in Spain and one of Andalucia’s first ever teams are the Granada Sarracens.

The home team SUNS enter the game as clear favourites for victory after their historic win in the first round games against the reigning champions and multiple winners Seville Linces.

Despite their classic first win the SUNS have worked hard during their trainings to perfect their offense – the ultimate goal to be ruthless & effective against the Sarracens defense. The game in Seville was hotly contested and physically intense but this weeks encounter is particularly important and decisive as a strong result would place the SUNS in clear first place, both for games won but also for points differential.

The SUNS offense should prove to be explosive and spectacular against the Sarracens defense, both for the passing game lead by American Zac Colvin and the Austrian Rene Knopf and the power running game led by national players Ivo Gonzalez & Jose Toquero.

One of the most intruiging factors of the game will prove to be the battle between the Sarracens offense and the SUNS hard hitting defense, led by Irishman Justin Barber and Englishman Kevin Prior. The SUNS defense will aim to control the Sarracens experienced offense throughout the game in what should prove to be an intriguing competition.

The Suns in two games so far this season have won both with a combined score of 110 to 20 and will be looking to extend that record this Sunday.

The Granada Sarracens count within their squad players of great experience and size. At the forefront of controlling this will be National players Miguel Florido and Manuel Carmona as well as Finn Marko Arola.

This could prove to be the decisive game in securing a passage to the final for the Manilva SUNS in what is the FIRST competition that this young team has competed in.
