Manilva Town Hall has received notification this month from the court in Malaga that they must provide a list of all municipal assets with a view to an embargo being placed on them in respect of a judgement made in 2005 for non payment of accounts for works carried out in 1998.
The sum in question is estimated at just under 337,000 euros on to which could be added legal costs, etc. and dates back to the following contracts carried out in 1998: Works to the MA-545 Sabinillas-Manilva road including streetlights, drains, etc. Infrastructure works in Castillo, Sabinillas and Manilva including drain and sewer works at Conjunto Sabinillas-Park. Infrastructure works to properties in El Peñoncillo. All these works were carried out in 1998.
The original account was for the sum of 108,922 euros with the remaining 227,818 euros being interest charges and fines for delayed payment.
The Mayoress has denounced the "negligence and wastefulness of former administrations in squandering funds on projects of doubtful worth rather than pay suppliers"
She went on to state that "the town hall is working hard to ensure we can work through this and other situations inherited from our predecessors". |
