The Town Hall’s new tax management system, will allow the collection of around 7 million euros and as a consequence of this has been the clearance of some 350,000 euros of debt owed to small businesses in the area.
The financial department has been working with the official collection agency, the Patronato de Recaudación Provincial, who have been tasked with the management of the collection of local taxes, to collate all the date required to process the almost 6,000 tax bills outstanding from last year, including over a million euros owed to the Council coffers by the Costa del Sol motorway. Once all the relevant information has been collected then the Recaudacion will put in place the necessary mechanisms to collect these payments including embargoes if necessary. The Mayoress, Antonia Muñoz, and the Councillor in charge of finance, Diego Diaz, wish to thank all those local businesses providing goods or services to the Town Council, who have shown great patience and understanding regarding the financial crisis which has led to a long delay in bills being settled, and has promised that these will be settled in the very near future, with 350,000 euros paid out in the last week alone. |
