The Mayoress of Manilva, Antonia Muñoz, met this week with the manager of the Consorcio de Bomberos (fire service consortium), José Luís Cámara, and the coordinator for the Ronda fire station, Luis Ramírez.
The object of this meeting was to deal with all the deal with all the matters relating to the new retained fire service soon to be operational in Manilva. These matters include premises, equipment and personnel.
The Mayoress stated that as a result of recent agreements with the President of the Malaga provincial authority, Salvador Pendón, the Manilva fire station will be a reality by the end of this year.
All those at the meeting were in agreement that, despite the proximity of the Estepona fire station, a local service was vital given the recent growth of the population in Manilva.
The fire stationed will be situated in the building next to the Local Police Station in Manilva, and will comprise quarters for the retained firemen including dormitary, kitchen, etc with garaging and workshops for the brigade's vehicles. Initially there will be a force of around half-a-dozen firefighters which should rise to more than double that figure in the near future. |
