Manilva Town Council will continue to pursue the project to restore Manilva’s Santa Ana Church despite being turned down by the Junta de Andalucia for a grant under the regional government’s Plan Qualifica.
The Junta has judged that the project does not meet the conditions of the Plan Qualifica scheme which is aimed at funding projects which will have a benefit to the tourism infrastructure of the municipality. The Town Council have been asked to present other projects which will fulfill the necessary criteria. The Mayoress, Antonia Muñoz, and the Councillor for Culture, Yoloanda Holgado, will continue to pursue funding through the Bishop of Malaga, and the Malaga Provincial Government, as the church is urgently in need of these restoration works, which are important given the prominance of the church in the town’s landscape. |
