Almost two years after works began, Parque El Duque is to be officially opened this Sunday, 28th June.
The opening ceremony will begin at 8 pm with the official cutting of the ribbon which will be followed by childrens' entertainment with snacks gifts and surprises. At 9.30 pm the municipal dance school will take to the park's amphitheatre to perform. This will be followed by a live concert by singer Maria Lozano, from Canal Sur TV's "Se Llama Copla". The El Duque Park occupies a plot of 8,518 square metres (approx 2 and a quarter acres) and was created on a piece of public land which for many years had been neglected. The park is ‘Mediterranean’ in theme and planted with predominantly indigenous plant species, the park also provides an exercise zone, picnic area, childrens' play area along with a an open air amphitheatre for staging performances. |
