The Hotel Suites Duquesa Golf has been awarded a fifth star to become Manilva’s first , and only, 5-star hotel.

A ceremony was held last Saturday, 29th March, in the hotel itself, attended by a number of  tour operators who were invited to view the hotel’s excellent facilities.

The presentation of a plaque bearing the 5 stars was made by the Mayoress of Manilva to Tomás Arenal Ibáñez, representative of the firm Maduque S.A. which runs the Hotel.

Participating in the presentation was a number of people from business, political and tourism sectors, chiefly: Salvador Vilches, President of AEHCOS (Costa del Sol Hoteliers Association), Sonia Saborido Cózar (Councillor for Tourism at Casares Town Hall), Juan Carlos Galindo López (San Roque’s Councillor for Toursim), along with Augusto Gil (Councillor for Tourism in Manilva) accompanied by Mayoress, Antonia Muñoz, along with other local councillors.

 The AEHCOS President congratulated Maduque S.A. on the money and effort which had been invested in the Hotel and stressed how it was no longer sufficient to provide ‘bed and food’ but that hotels today needed to offer a wide range of complimentary services, entertainment, comfort and facilities, such as golf, spas, tennis courts, swimming pools, etc.

Augusto Gil, Manilva’s Tourism Councillor, stressed the importance of the award, which along with Manilva’s Blue Flag beaches and marina, confirmed Manilva as a quality destination for tourists. He also added that the hotel was to be included in the Michelin Guide for its food and leisure facilities.
