Andalucia Day

On the 28th February Andalucia celebrates the anniversary of the referendum in 1980 in which Andalucians voted overwhelmingly for autonomy.
In Manilva the day is marked with a programme of events which take place in front of the Town Hall in Manilva Town.

Programme:

10.30 am. Andalucian breakfast for all those taking part with brown bread, olive oil,  torta de pellizco (traditional sponge cake) and coffee. At lunch time you can also enjoy ham, cheese and local wines.
12 noon. Flag raising ceremony in which the Andalucian Flag will be raised in front of the Town Hall accompanied by the Andalucian Anthem performed by the Municipal Town Band and the Town Choir.
There will also be a prizegiving ceremony to honour the day.
12.30 pm. Concert by the Municipal Town Band and the Town Choir.
1.30 pm. Performance by the Municipal School of Dance directed by Inmaculada Chacón and Eva Cabrera.
2.30 pm. An opportunity to sample various ham, cheese, pork products and wine.
4.00 pm. A theatrical production rportraying the various provinces of Andalucia, performed by the Municipal Theatre School.
5.00 pm. Performances by children from the various local schools.
7.00 pm. Concert by the flamenco singer Alicia Fernández who will perform songs from her latest album “Más que Coplas”.
9.00 pm. The programme will be rounded off with  a performance by the Municipal School of Music Orchestra.
For the youngsters there will be bouncy castles and other activities throughout the day.
