Manilva's Councillor for Tourism, Commerce, Promotion and Image, Augusto Gil, held a presentation today to unveil Manilva's stand for this year's FITUR exhibition to be held later this week.

Plyaground closed for repairs

The La Colonia children’s playground, next to the nursery in Sabinillas will be closed from 22nd January for repairs and improvements.

According to the Councillor for Public Works, Mario Jiménez, these works will take several weeks, during which those areas being worked on will be closed.

The councillor has expressed his apologies for any inconvenience, but would point out that the works are being carried out for the safety of the park’s users, and as such would ask that people respect the barriers whilst the work is being carried out.

 
Mayoress criticises lack of interest by the regional health authority

The Mayoress of Manilva, Antonia Muñoz, has lamented the Junta de Andalucia Regional Health Service’s apparent lack of interest in problems facing Manilva’s overstretched medical service.

Painting competition

Manilva Town Hall’s Foreigner’s Department is holding a painting competition. Open to any entrant painting should be submitted to the Foreigner’s Department office or the Edificio Usos Multiples in Sabinillas.

Entrance is 5 euros and the closing date is 15th February and the presentation of prizes will be on 22nd February at the Extension Usos Multiples at 1 pm.

Prizes
1st prize of a small case with painting materials.
2nd prize of an easel and a canvas.
3rd prize of a selection of artist’s brushes.

 
Logo Competition

Manilva Town Council is inviting designs for a logo for the Foreigner’s Department.

Entries to be submitted in a sealed envelope with all your personal details, name telephone number, etc., at the Foreigner’s Office or the Edficio de Uso Multiples in Sabinillas by the 14th of March.

Entrance fee is 5 euros with a prize of 150 euros to the winning entry which will be announced at a presentation at the Foreigners Office at 1.30 pm on the 27th March.

Maicandil School Opening

The Mayoress of Manilva, Antonia Muñoz Vázquez, accompanied by the Schools Headmaster, Rafael Salcedo, and the representative of Junta de Andalucia’s Provincial Education department, José Nieto, officially opened the CEIP Maicandil School in Sabinillas on Friday, 14th December.

Manilva Suns v Granada Sarracens

At midday, Sunday, November 18th, in excellent conditions and a moderate crowd the second round of the Andalucian League saw the Manilva Suns take on the Granada Sarracenos at the Estadio de Las Viñas de Manilva.

Spanish cookery course

Manilva’s Foreigners’ Department has organised a Spanish Cookery Course which will begin on Saturday, 17th November.

The course will take participants through the various techniques and traditional recipes of Andalucian and Mediterranean cookery.

The course will run for three months and will be held between 12 and 2 pm every Saturday at Colegio Pablo Picasso School in Manilva.

The course costs 45 euros per person for the 12 week duration. Places are limited so all those wishing to enrol should contact Chris Olsen at the Foreigners’ Department, Edificio Extensión de Usos Multiples in Calle Miguel Delibes, Sabinillas or phone 665 384 160 between 8 am and 3 pm.

Cleaning the port

The councillor in charge of Manilva’s Beach department, Diego Urieta, in collaboration with Manilva’s Club Nautico, and the Puerto Duquesa management company, Marinas del Mediterráneo, held a Seabed Cleaning Day on Saturday, November 10th.
