Last Sunday, 23rd February, saw the Manilva Suns continue their winning run in the LNF2, Spain’s American Football league, with a convincing 45 - 7 win over the young Portuguese side Oporto Renegades.

Andalucia Day

Andalucia Day in Manilva

Manilva celebrates Andalucia Day on Thursday, 28th February in Calle Mar with a programme of events starting at 10.30 am with a traditional Andalucian breakfast served outside the Town Hall.
12 noon Raising of the Andalucia Flag at the Town Hall accompanied by the Andalucia Anthem performed by the Manilva Town Band and Municipal Choirs.
12.30 pm Performance by the Municipal Choirs and the Manilva Town Band.
1.30 pm Performance by the Manilva Municipal Dance School.
6.00 pm Flamenco by Pepe Ortega.
7.00 pm Flamenco Spectacular by Soledad de Jerez.

 
Foreigners Department office move

As of today Manilva Town Council’s  Foreigners’ Department has moved to the Villa Matilde which is the building just in front of SuperSol on the Sabinillas to Manilva road.

You can contact Chris Olsen on 663 969 636 or 665 384 160.

Opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 8.15 and 9.15 am and 11 am to 1.30 pm or you can visit Chris at his bookstall at the Sunday Market from 9 am to 2 pm.

 
Dog training

The Foreigners’ Department, in conjunction with Estepona Dog Training, is organising weekly dog training classes to be held at the Recinto Ferial (Sunday Market site).

Classes will be held from 9.30 to 10.30 am; 10.30 to 11.30 am; and from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm every Tuesday.

Each one hour class costs 5 euros and classes are available for all levels.

Isabel Mena - Miss MalagaLocal girl Isabel María Mena will be representing Malaga Province in the forthcoming Miss Spain Pageant which will be held on the 1st March at Valencia Province’s Marina D’Or.

As part of the lead up to the Election Night, the competition’s official website is staging a Miss Internet contest in which people can register their vote for their favourite Miss.

Carnival

Carnival got off to a flying start in Sabinillas last night, with the action moving on to Manilva tonight and Castillo on Sunday.

Classroom Activities during White Week (25 to 29 February)

Manilva Town Council’s Education Department is offering classroom activities to children attending infant and primary schools during the week of 25th to 29th February, from 9 am to 2 pm daily (excluding the 28th which is a public holiday), when local state run schools will be closed and some working parents will be wondering whom they are going to leave their children with!

Medical Appointments

From Thursday 31st January, it will now be possible to book medical appointments with the doctor, paediatrician or district nurse over the phone.

This programme has been introduced by the Junta de Andalucia Regional Health Authority and allows appointments to be made via the telephone number 902 505 060 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

This year’s ‘Carnaval’ celebrations run from Friday, 8th to Sunday, 10th February, and will feature activities and entertainment in each of Manilva’s urban centres, namely Manilva Town, Sabinillas, and Castillo de la Duquesa.
