Manilva Suns v Granada Sarracens

At midday, Sunday, November 18th, in excellent conditions and a moderate crowd the second round of the Andalucian League saw the Manilva Suns take on the Granada Sarracenos at the Estadio de Las Viñas de Manilva.

Spanish cookery course

Manilva’s Foreigners’ Department has organised a Spanish Cookery Course which will begin on Saturday, 17th November.

The course will take participants through the various techniques and traditional recipes of Andalucian and Mediterranean cookery.

The course will run for three months and will be held between 12 and 2 pm every Saturday at Colegio Pablo Picasso School in Manilva.

The course costs 45 euros per person for the 12 week duration. Places are limited so all those wishing to enrol should contact Chris Olsen at the Foreigners’ Department, Edificio Extensión de Usos Multiples in Calle Miguel Delibes, Sabinillas or phone 665 384 160 between 8 am and 3 pm.

Cleaning the port

The councillor in charge of Manilva’s Beach department, Diego Urieta, in collaboration with Manilva’s Club Nautico, and the Puerto Duquesa management company, Marinas del Mediterráneo, held a Seabed Cleaning Day on Saturday, November 10th.

The mayoress of Manilva, Antonia Muñoz, along with the councillors for Infrastructures and Works, Mario Jiménez and the Sports Councillor, Diego Urieta, recently met with representatives of the construction company Vera y Gea 21, to discuss the progress of the Sabinillas sports complex.

Solving the postal problems

Calle MijasFollowing recent meetings and the passing of local ordinances regarding the identification, naming and numbering of the municipality’s streets and buildings, works are proceeding to fix street signs and numbering with the intention of solving the major problems affecting the local postal system.

Trip to Seville

Manilva’s Foreigners’ Department is organising a trip to the Andalucian capital of Seville on Saturday, 17th November.

The trip will leave at 7.30 am, returning 5.30 pm taking in La Giralda, the Cathedral and Real Alcazar and will cost 47 euros per person.

Inauguration of Plaza de la Igualdad, Sabinillas

Plaza de la Igualdad

The official inauguration took place on Wednesday, 31st October, of the newly created Plaza de la Igualdad in Sabinillas.

The ceremony was attended by the Mayoress, Antonia Muñoz, the Councillor for Gardens and Public Works, Mario Jiménez, along with other councillors and the general public.

This inauguration concludes the improvements which began in response to protests by neighbouring residents about the decrepit state of this plot which was overgrown and full of vermin and rubbish

The new square, which is situated just off Avenida Miraflores, is intended as a place of recreation and relaxation for the residents of Sabinillas and is equipped with a fountain, benches, trees and flower beds.
