Environment department presents latest hikes

Hiking

Manilva’s environment department has organised a programme of Sunday hikes for the coming months.

Starting off on March 10 with a 10 km walk on the Los Lagares route which is classified as of medium difficulty. The cost is 14 euros per person including lunch.

16 March takes to the La Sauceda-La Pileta de la Reina route, a 12 km trek of medium to hard difficulty. The price is 5 euros per person.
Finally on April 21 there is a 10 km walk – Altabacal-Baja Alta which is of a medium difficulty.

All participants must be 10 and over and be of sufficent physical condition to undertake the distances and level of difficulty of the particular hike (The supervisors may refuse to take those they believe unfit to complete the route).

Places can be reserved up to the Wednesday prior to each hike.

The group departs at approx. 8 am (coaches will be provided where required).

There is no charge for places on these walks

Manilva Netball Team are recruiting new members

Netball

Manilva Netball Club are a local group of ladies that enjoy playing netball and would welcome into the team anyone who has played before, or would like to learn to play. They have Spanish speakers so if there are Spanish or other nationalities that would like to give netball a go, they have a coach that comes to the Manilva sports centre every week to put them through their paces.

Training is on Tuesdays (weather permitting) from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, cost each week €3 for adults and €2 for Students.

On an almost monthly basis, there is a tournament played at San Pedro which gives them some match practice. These are normally held on a Saturdays.

If anyone out there is interested, please look for “Manilva Netball Club” on Facebook and ask to join. Alternatively, contact Jan Haywood on email janheywood@hotmail.com, or just come up to training one Tuesday. The training court is behind the sports centre in Manilva.

Weekend football results – January 19-20

senior Squad

Epic victory for Manilva’s indoor football team, who won four goals to three against Aluprafe Orihuela from Alicante.

The visitors left the pitch at half-time with a three goals to nil scoreline in their favour.

A flattering tally rfor their performance during the first twenty minuites.

Luck changed for the locals during the second part. Jesus Azurmendi’s Manilva threw everything they had against the visitors, with Fiera taking all four goals, becoming the star player in the kind of game guaranteed to thrill the fans.

Manilva continue to be the bottom team, although they can see safety only three points away.

There were different fortunes for the U. Manilva football club, who were defeated for the second game in a row. This time the Manilva team lost away to league leaders, Atl. Yunquera, by two goals to one. U. Manilva continues in third place in the league but have fallen behind the leaders by seven points.

VI January Padel Tournament

Padel Tennis

Manilva’s School of Padel Tennis School is celebrating the sixth edition of the traditional January Padel Tournament this weekend, 25, 26 and 27 January at the Padel Centre next to the football ground in Manilva.

The competition is open to men’s 3rd and 4th categories and women’s 4th category, with prizes for the first three places in each category.

Competitors have until January 24 to enrol for the competition and there is an entry fee of 15 euros (12 euros for club members). All entrants will receive a gift.

The Manilva Football 7s league resumed last weekend after the festive break with a full round of matches.

There were mixed fortunes for the top three teams with first and second placed Ortega Aviles and Bar Vinagre both registering wins, but third placed Policia local cound only manage a draw against the Latinos.

Football Sevens league returns after Christmas break

Manilva’s local seven-a-side football league returns after the festive break. With twelve local teams taking part this keenly fought league sees only three points separating the top three teams – Ortega Avilés, Policía Local and Bar Vinagre.

This weekend’s matches kick-off at 9 pm on Friday January 11 with Rincón de Alcántara Vendaval Sport taking on league leaders Ortega Avilés, and Techno cable Pollo Sano versus Bar Vinagre.

The remaining matches will be played on Saturday January 12 when La Tele take on Ammex Administraciones, and Policía Local play the Latinos from 12.15 pm, and Juventus de Alcorrín against Charanga Chichipón, and Atl. Pappardella Plaguironda versus Pinturas Codesur Rafalux taking to the pitch at 1.30 pm.

All the matches are played at the Las Viñas football ground in Manilva and all spectators are welcome.

Euroleague basketball – Unicaja v Real Madrid

Unicaja v Real madrid

Manilva’s Sports department are organising a trip on Friday, January 18 to see Malaga Unicaja play Real Madrid in the basketball Euroleague. The match is being played at Malaga’s Martín Carpena stadium.

Tickets cost 7 euros per person including return coach travel, with reservations being taket at the Sports Department office next to the Las Viñas football ground in Manilva or telephone 952 891 532.
