Manilva CF promoted to regional football league

Manilva’s local football club, Union Manilva Club de Futbol, are celebrating the announcement that they have been promoted to the Regional Preferente Malaga league after five years in the Provincial league.

After finishing second to Yunquera, Manilva received promotion as the best runner up out of the division’s three Malaga groups.


The team will prepare for the coming season with a programme of six friendlies beginning at home on Thursday August 8 against Algeciras B kick off at 8.30 pm, followed by Zabal on August 13, Los Barrios on August 16, Guadiaro August 20, La Linea’s La Balona on August 27 and finally Algeciras on August 30.

Spain victorious in III Manilva International Football 7 Tournament

Manilva celebrated the III International 7-a-side Football Tournament on Saturday June 1 at the Las Viñas Football Ground in Manilva.

Nine teams competed, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, England, Morocco, Paraguay, Romania, Spain, and Uruguay.

The competition was organised in to three groups of three from which the winners of each of the three groups, plus the best second placed team, then went through to the Semi Finals and Final.

The Spanish team, comprising a selection of the best players from the local 7-a-side league, were the ultimate victors.

Among the spectators was the Uruguayan international Walter Pandiani, who played for Osasuna and Español as well as a short stint at Birmingham City.

Football 7 season draws to a close

Manilva’s 7-a-side football league drew to a close last Friday with the cup final and awards presentation.

League champions were Bar Vinagre after a tight battle with Ortega Aviles; Kisko took the top goalscorer honours, with Bar Vinagre’s goalkeeper Miguel awarded for conceding the fewest goals. Finally Los Latinos won the trophy for most sporting team.

Last weekend Manilva hosted the Andalucia Day Football 7 Tournament at the Las Viñas football ground.

Young footballers from across the region competed in three categories: Pre- Benjamin (Under 8s); Benjamin (Under 10s); and Alevin (Under 12s). In the Pre-Benjamin category U Manilva CF were the winners with a 4-2 victory over Esteponense in the final.

In the Benjamin category Peña de los Compadres beat Malaga on penalties, with Malaga taking victory in the Alevin with a 1-0 win over Los Barrios.

II Andalucia Day Football 7 Tournament

On Saturday March 2 Manilva will stage the II Andalucia Day Football 7 Tournament contested by young footballers from across the region with teams from Unión Manilva Club de Fútbol, Bolivia, U.D Sa Pedro, Peña Los Compadres, Peña Málaga, Málaga C.F, Atco Zabal, Arsenal Soccer Schools Spain, U.D. Los Barrios, Ath San Pedro, C.D.F. Esteponense, U.D San Roque and Club Deportivo Calderón.

The tournament will be held at the Las Viñas football ground in Manilva.

Weekend football results – January 19-20

Epic victory for Manilva’s indoor football team, who won four goals to three against Aluprafe Orihuela from Alicante.

The visitors left the pitch at half-time with a three goals to nil scoreline in their favour.

A flattering tally rfor their performance during the first twenty minuites.

Luck changed for the locals during the second part. Jesus Azurmendi’s Manilva threw everything they had against the visitors, with Fiera taking all four goals, becoming the star player in the kind of game guaranteed to thrill the fans.

Manilva continue to be the bottom team, although they can see safety only three points away.

There were different fortunes for the U. Manilva football club, who were defeated for the second game in a row. This time the Manilva team lost away to league leaders, Atl. Yunquera, by two goals to one. U. Manilva continues in third place in the league but have fallen behind the leaders by seven points.

The Manilva Football 7s league resumed last weekend after the festive break with a full round of matches.

There were mixed fortunes for the top three teams with first and second placed Ortega Aviles and Bar Vinagre both registering wins, but third placed Policia local cound only manage a draw against the Latinos.

Football Sevens league returns after Christmas break

Manilva’s local seven-a-side football league returns after the festive break. With twelve local teams taking part this keenly fought league sees only three points separating the top three teams – Ortega Avilés, Policía Local and Bar Vinagre.

This weekend’s matches kick-off at 9 pm on Friday January 11 with Rincón de Alcántara Vendaval Sport taking on league leaders Ortega Avilés, and Techno cable Pollo Sano versus Bar Vinagre.

The remaining matches will be played on Saturday January 12 when La Tele take on Ammex Administraciones, and Policía Local play the Latinos from 12.15 pm, and Juventus de Alcorrín against Charanga Chichipón, and Atl. Pappardella Plaguironda versus Pinturas Codesur Rafalux taking to the pitch at 1.30 pm.

All the matches are played at the Las Viñas football ground in Manilva and all spectators are welcome.
