On Saturday 8 August, from 10 pm, Casares Costa hosts a new show that integrates four Tango dancers, leading figures from the Argentine Ballet, accompanied by a String Chamber Orchestra consisting of violins, violas, cellos and double bass.
The show will be performed in the beautiful outdoor setting of the Jardines del Rosario.
The event is presented by the Arcos Company, Buenos Aires Tango Show organised in collaboration with the Department of Culture.

The School of Fencing based in the Castle in Castillo de la Duquesa has recently been in action at a couple of tournaments.
In the Polideportivo de Leganes in Madrid members participated in the National Fencing Criterium for Under 10s and Under 12s, equivalent to the Spanish Championships in this category.
It was a great sight to see some 800 youngsters setting an example of sportsmanship and camaraderie, with all the children enjoying a day of sport and meeting new friends from across Spain, all with a common interest – fencing.
In the Women’s Under 10 Catherine Deardon took the gold, whilst in the Under 11s Amelia Deardon missed out on a deserved medal by a single hit from one of the tournaments top ten fencers.
Meanwhile in the Andalucia Fencing Championships held in Almeria recently, Maria Maldonado took the bronze medal; and the Manilva women’s team comprising Maria Maldonado, Noelia Tejera and Joanna Kustra took the silver.

Manilva’s Nuestra Señora de los Dolores y Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno brotherhood has organised the election of the Queen and her attendants for this year’s Verbena Santa Ana, celebrating Manilva’s patron saint.
This is part of an initiative to restore some of the town’s old traditions and will take place on Saturday 25 July, on the eve of Dia Santa Ana on Sunday 26.
There are two categories: ‘Juvenil’ – girls born in 1996 or 1997; and ‘Infantil’ – girls born in 2006. Entrants must live in Manilva town and can register on the day of the election between 9 pm and 10 pm in the Plaza Martin Carpena by the football ground.

The Playa de la Escollera beach next to the lighthouse in Estepona is the venue for the Estepona Summer Party being held on Friday and Saturday, 24 and 25 July.
The Party starts on Friday 24 from 7.30 pm with the XV Reggae Night, featuring an evening of classical reggae sounds by Mufayah Sound System with Oscar Selectah and Pablillo MC Gismo, plus performances by Obuntu and Leroy Onestone & Wisehouse Crew who will be presenting their latest album ‘Positivity’. The Party continues on Saturday 25 from 7.30 pm with Spetto Fest, an evening of music and fun on the beach including an exhibition of Ultimate Frisbee; grilled sardine espetos, as well as music by the bands Seeking Soul Band, and Malpaso. Again, entrance is free.

Marbella’s Starlite Festival kicks off this years season of performances with a concert by Lenny Kravitz on July 22. This opens a season of concerts running through to the final concert by pop opera star Andrea Bocelli.
Now in its fourth year the Starlite Festival goes from strength to strength with a host of parallel activities as well as the concerts all of which in the purpose built Starlite Village in the Cantera de Nagüeles, in Marbella.

This weekend Manilva celebrates the thirtieth edition of its annual 24-Hour Sports tournament, kicking off at 8 pm on Friday 26 June until 8 pm the following evening.
The tournament will feature a wide range of sporting disciplines including 3×3 basketball, handball, indoor football, 7-a-side football, padel and tennis. There will also be cycling hill climb event.
Entries are invited an hour before each activity for sports such as climbing, beach volleyball, climbing, chess, etc., which are free to enter.
Indoor football and padel tennis have an entry fee of 60 euros per team for football and 10 euro per player for the padel, with cash prizes for the winners and runners up.

The newly elected councillors recently held a meeting with council workers with the aim of introducing themselves and outlining their plans for the coming months.
The Mayor, Diego José Jiménez, made a point of the cooperation and good relations between all the councillors from both participating parties and called on all council staff to pull together to provide the best service for the benefit of the people of Manilva.
One of the priorities for the summer was the strengthening of the cleaning and beaches departments given the importance of Manilva’s image with its many visitors.
