Why you should register on the Padron – An information evening

With the 30 December deadline approaching for foreign residents to register to vote, Manilva’s Foreign Residents Department is organising a meeting on Wednesday, 17 December at the Manilva Wine Centre, from 6 pm, to explain the advantages of registration on the Electoral Roll (Padron) and the voting census, along with other topics of interest to Manilva’s foreign residents.

To make it easier for those who work weekdays, it will also be possible to register between 10 am and 1 pm at the Tourist Office in Duquesa Port on each of the Saturdays leading up to the end of December beginning Saturday 13.

Town hall office in Duquesa opens Saturday mornings for Padron and IBI discount applications

Manilva’s Departments of Statistics and Foreign Residents, headed by Marcos Ruiz and Manuel Chaves respectively, have arranged for the Tourist Office in Duquesa Port to be open on Saturdays 13, 20, and 27 December for local residents to register on the local electoral roll (Padron) and/or apply for their IBI property tax discounts.

Those wishing to register should bring their passport, a copy of their NIE, their rental contract or property deeds (escritura) and a utility bill such as water or electric.

To apply for the IBI discount applicants need their passport, a copy of their NIE, and their 2014 IBI bill.

The idea is to make it easier for those who cannot get to the office on a weekday especially considering the deadline for both the IBI discount and the right to vote is the end of December.
