My Eco Baby will demonstrate how cloth nappies have come since the olden days and how fashionable and easy to use they are, better for the environment and kinder to baby’s skin.

Programme of events to celebrate the new Paseo in Sabinillas

Manilva Town Hall are organising a number of activities on Sunday 24 August to celebrate the official opening of the Paseo del Carmen, the new stretch of promenade in Sabinillas.

7.30 pm – Children’s activities, bouncy castle, etc.

8 pm – Parade along the promenade from La Noria to La Colonia.

9.30 pm – Inauguration of the Paseo Maritimo and the Plaza Neptuno

10 pm – Music and dancing.

Manilva climber Rogelio Pascual declared Andalucian Champion

Manilva veteran climber, Rogelio Pascual, has been proclaimed Andalucian Champion in the category ‘Dificultad’. The Manilva sportsman finished ahead of the youngster Juan García-Chicano, whilst Granada’s José Martín took the third step on the podium.

The competition, organised by the Andalucian Climbing Federation, Seville’s City Hall, and the Seville Climbing Club, took place at the Ifni Sports Centre climbing wall, home of the famous Seville Bloque Open, with more than 100 competitors and a huge number of spectators.

Medieval Market in Sabinillas from August 20

Medieval Market in Sabinillas

The Paseo Maritimo in Sabinillas will be the location for the Medieval Market when it returns for 5 days from Wednesday August 20 to Sunday August 24.

Organised by Manilva’s Tourist Department in collaboration with the Malik Association the market features various stalls, along with entertainment and other activities with a Medieval flavour.

Visitors to the market will feel like they’ve stepped back in time to the Middle Ages.
The market is open from 9 pm until the early hours.

Following the success of the School Disco (well we had a good time) DJs Jerry Atric and Joe King are inviting everyone who likes to party to join us for the Party Animals Dancy Party at the Mayfair Music Club (former Punto d’Encuentro) on Saturday 16 August for a night of music and mayhem, playing all your favourite dancy and party tunes from the 60s to present day.

Doors open at 9 pm and the the party gets under way in all seriousness at 10 pm. Don’t worry if you can’t get there early doors, the last one went on until 4 am. Entry is free and you won’t need to sell a kidney to buy a round.

Women’s business networking group launched in Manilva

On September 17, 2014 from 6.30 pm to 8 pm in Villa Matilde, Sabinillas, a new women’s networking group is being launched by Shaw Marketing Services in association with Costa Women and supported by the Manilva Town Hall. This monthly networking event will offer women in the local business community a friendly and open environment to build their network, find suppliers and make new contacts.

Costa Women is a social community and business-networking group for women living in Spain and winner of the Best British Social Club award 2012 in the Telegraph. It provides online and offline networking opportunities for over 3,000 members and is free to join. The new Manilva business group will be an excellent addition to their networking calendar for women in business on the Western Costa del Sol.

This group will be led by marketing and networking expert Georgina Shaw from Shaw Marketing Services, who wants to establish a strong group to support the local business community and help them to thrive. Having previously organized and attended a host of networking events, Georgina will create a relaxed but structured networking environment, which facilitates making new business contacts using a range of different exercises and techniques.

Valentina Radu, Area Coordinator for Town Planning, Statistics and Foreign Residents in Manilva has offered her support for this new initiative and provided the venue to demonstrate the Town Hall’s commitment to supporting businesses in the province.

Manilva Summer Fair 2014

Manilva Summer Fair

Manilva celebrates its annual Summer Feria in the second week of August with activities, entertainment, parades, and a funfair. Most of the activities are centred on the Recinto Ferial (fairground – where the Sunday market is usually located).

During this week many local companies and offices are on short hours, including many of the banks.

Wednesday 6

Children’s Day at the Funfair from 9 pm at the Fairground. All rides are just 1 euro.

Thursday 7 – August Fair

Summer fair starts with the switching on of the fairground illuminations at 11 pm.
11.30 pm Coronation of the Feria Queens in the main pavillion followed by music and dancing into the early hours with the band ‘Los Idolos’.
Ladies’ Day in the youth pavillion with performances by “Hinojosa & Mr. Chris”.

Friday 8

7.30 pm Cavalcade in Manilva starting from the health centre.
10 pm Music and dancing into the early hours with the band ‘Los Idolos’.
1 am Concert by the band ‘Dry Martina’.
