Plans to extend Manilva’s IES Las Viñas secondary school are in their final stages after the Junta de Andalucia’s education and infrastructure department finally licenses the first stage and allocates an investment of 1.48 million euros in the project.
This comes some seven years after the Junta agreed a two million euro investment to expand the school, but this was postponed due to the economic crisis and instead eight prefabricated classrooms were installed.
This first phase will involve the construction of a new building with an extra eleven classrooms and will commence at the end of the summer term and is expected to take some eight months to complete and will create 30 jobs during that time.
IES Las Viñas
The IES Las Viñas was built at the end of the ‘80s as an extension of Estepona’s IES Monterroso for the education of secondary students from Manilva and Casares.
Since then the school’s numbers have swelled from ten teachers and 50 students to the current 80 teachers and over 900 pupils.
In 1995 the school separated from IES Monterroso and was extended with an extra floor in 2000. In 2005-2006 the school applied for further extension, which has just been granted in 2014.

Pursued incessantly by his lethal vampire relatives, Vlad goes on the run, starting a roller-coaster string of action-packed adventures that kept me turning the pages. In a riveting climax, Vlad must prove to the people of Malign village that his is not an evil vampire: he does not murder, nor does he drink blood.
