The organisers of the Macmillan Cudeca Coffee Morning held last Friday, 27 September, in Plaza Jorge Guillen, Sabinillas, would like to thank everyone who attended and helped raise over €1,400 which will be divided equally between the two charities Macmillan Cancer Care and Cudeca.
They would also like to announce that they will be holding a Buffet Curry Evening at the Mumbai Palace on the Paseo Maritimo, Sabinillas on Friday, 11 October from 8 pm.
There will be a choice of 6 curries, including 2 vegetarian options, plus pilau rice and nan bread, and to follow a special Indian dessert of Gulab Jamun. Ticket price is only €15, which includes a small donation to the charity. There will also be a raffle of bottles which have been donated to the charity. Once again proceeds will be divided between MacMillan and Cudeca.

Manilva’s Environment Department, directed by Emilio López Berenguer, has published this Autumn’s programme of hikes.
There will be two hikes in October, the first being on Sunday 13 with an 11 km walk from Campillos to Las Lagunas. This is classified as an easy walk.
The second is on Sunday 27 October in Monte Corto in the Serranía de Ronda area and is a 10.5 km walk classified as easy to moderate difficulty.
All participants must be 10 and over and be of sufficent physical condition to undertake the distances and level of difficulty of the particular hike (The supervisors may refuse to take those they believe unfit to complete the route).
The group departs at approx. 8 am (coach will be provided).

Manilva’s Councillor for Tourism, Emilio López Berenguer, has announced there will be visit by the Classic Car Club this Sunday, from 12 noon and visiting Sabinillas, Manilva and Castillo de la Duquesa.
He has also mentioned that on this occasion there will be fewer vehicles than in previous visits.
Manilva’s Foreign Residents Department has organised a seminar on the benefits of being registered on the local Padron; the IBI tax discounts recently approved by the local authorities; plus a number of other matters of interest to local residents.
The event will be held on Thursday, September 26 from 6 pm in the Manilva Wine Centre next to the fire station in Manilva.
Anyone is welcome to attend and there will refreshments served after the talk.

The Beatles tribute act “The Silver Beats” will perform live in concert at Chiringuito Almijara (Pepe’s) in Sabinillas on Saturday, September 21, from 4 pm.
After the huge success of previous appearances in the area Spain’s top Beatles tribute band will be making a welcome return to Manilva.
Faithfully recreating the groundbreaking sound of The Beatles, The Silver Beats cover hits such as With A Little Help From My Friends, Twist & Shout, We Can Work It Out, Hey Jude, Come Together, Yesterday, etc.

Manilva’ Foreign Residents Department are presenting their Autumn programme of events and activities on Friday, September 19, from 7 pm at the Castle in Castillo de la Duquesa.
All are welcome to attend and their will be entertainment by Elvis tribute ‘Stelvis’ and flamenco from Eva Cabrera. Refreshments are also available along with printed copies of the programme for your reference.
Live Music Spain in collaboration with Manilva Foreign Resdidents Department and The Duquesa Charitable Society of St. George presents The New Jersey Boys at The Castle in Castillo de la Duquesa on Saturday, September 28 from 8 pm.
This fabulous tribute to the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons tells the story of how the group went from being New Jersey kids to international pop superstars through their beautiful songs including “Sherry”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”.
Top singer and entertainer Daniela will be opening the evening.
Tickets are just 15€ available at The Bookshop in Sabinillas or the Castle in Castillo de la Duquesa.
Doors open 7 pm and the show starts at 8 pm.
Local band Moonshine will be performing live at Restaurante La Bella Vista this Saturday, September 21, from 9.30 pm.
This will be the first live performance with their new line up and promises to be a great show with the band playing lots of new songs as well as old favourites ranging from classic blues and rock to some more modern tracks.
Entry is free and the event will be held on the restaurant terrace. In case of inclement weather the show will move to the indoor stage.
On Friday 27th September, from 11 am, there will be a coffee morning in Plaza Los Naranjos in support of the Macmillan event. Last year, we raised over 1,500 euros, with the proceeds split 50:50 between Macmillan and Cudeca. We do hope that you will be able to join us and support these very worthwhile causes.
There will be delicious cakes, a raffle with some superb prizes, a tombola, and stalls with books, cards, marmalade and chutney, and nearly new clothes.

Manilva’s Infrastructure Department has announced that work has begun on the new section of promenade which will connect the Sabinillas Paseo Maritimo with the section at La Colonia.
The construction includes the demolition of the perimeter wall behind the infant school which will be relocated to provide for the six metre wide promenade.
The project is part funded by the Junta de Andalucia’s Plan Qualifica scheme for the improvement of tourism infrastructure and is being executed by municipal operatives.
