Live Music Spain present Beatles tribute act “The Silver Beats” live in concert at Bodega “El Molina” in Sabinillas on Thursday August 1 from 8.30 pm.

After the huge success of previous appearances here Spain’s top Beatles tribute band will be making a welcome return to Manilva.

Faithfully recreating the groundbreaking sound of The Beatles, The Silver Beats cover hits such as With A Little Help From My Friends, Twist & Shout, We Can Work It Out, Hey Jude, Come Together, Yesterday, etc.

Hensler and The Texas Pearls return to the Costa del Sol

Hensler and the Texas PearlsCountry music fans are in for a treat this summer as Hensler and the Texas Pearls will be performing their Legends of Nashville show at a number of venues on the Costa del Sol during July and August.

Returning to the South of Spain following their hugely successful Easter tour, Hensler and the Texas Pearls will be kicking off their tour at Tikitano, Estepona (952 798 449) on Friday July 26 from 9 pm; this will be followed by concerts at: Legend, La Cala de Mijas on Tuesday July 30, from 9.30 pm (628 353 884); Ristorante Regina, Marbella on Wednesday July 31, from 9 pm (952 814 529); Restaurante Valparaiso, Mijas on Thursday, August 1 from 9 pm (952 485 975); Camping La Bella Vista, Manilva on Saturday, August 3 from 8 pm (666 271 618); Tikitano, Estepona (952 798 449) on Wednesday August 7 from 9 pm; and finally Floria Chiringuito, Manilva on Friday August 9, from 8 pm (600 654 286).

Hensler and the Texas Pearls will be performing their Legends of Nashville Country Music Night paying tribute to those country legends such as Tammy Wynette, John Denver, Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash, etc.

lydia-barrettLydia Barrett is a familiar face here in southern Spain and Gibraltar having performed at numerous venues along the coast including two years as Resident Singer at Tikitano Beach Restaurant.  Previously, after graduating from the Arts Educational Schools London, Lydia appeared in West End musicals, namely Cats, Aspects of Love, Sunset Boulevard (Sydmonton Festival) as well as various UK repertory productions.  Lydia’s first introduction to Country music was Elusive Dreams, a Tammy Wynette & George Jones tribute tour in which she appeared as featured soloist and lead backing vocalist.  Lydia is thrilled to be performing the greatest hits of this ever popular music genre.

tim-henslerTim Hensler is an accomplished singer, songwriter and performer.  Rock & Roll touring and West End credits include performances in The Roy Orbison Story, Buddy and as George Jones in Stand By Your Man and Elusive Dreams.  As a songwriter, Tim released two singles in the 80s and has had songs published by Future Music.  He won the coveted runner up award in the Country music category of the prestigious UK song writing event in association with the Brits.  Tim has produced two Country albums with Vanessa Barrett, writing the title track Already Gone and co-writing with her, Love Roulette.

vanessa-barrettVanessa Barrett appeared in West End hits Evita, Aspects of Love and The Sound of Music before touring as Tammy Wynette in Stand By Your Man with Tim Hensler.  Their musical partnership produced two Country albums which include tracks listed in the Top 20 Independent Country Music charts.  Vanessa appeared as supporting artist for Slim Whitman in his ‘Farewell Tour’ in Britain and is included in the Best of British Country Music album 2003.  Tim and Vanessa produced Elusive Dreams, a UK tour celebrating the music of George Jones and Tammy Wynette.  She is thrilled to be back on her favourite resort singing Country!

This Friday, July 26 Manilva celebrates its patron saint Santa Ana.

The festivities begin 8 am when the local charanga marching band “Chi Chi Pom” parade through the streets of Manilva, followed at 11 am with traditional fun and games in Calle Mar.

At 7 pm there will be a Holy Mass in Calle Mar followed by a procession through the town’s streets.

From 10 pm there will be music and dancing until the early hours of the morning with the group “Rompe-Olas”.

Wednesday August 7

Children’s Day at the fairground with all funfair rides at 1 euro from 9 pm.


Thursday August 8

9.30 pm Official opening of the main pavillion. Chill Out Zone, children’s park, restaurant, theme nights, live music and DJs, etc.

11 pm Official opening of the fairground and ceremonial switching on of the illuminations by the Feria Queens and local councillors.

11.15 pm Coronation ceremony for all the Feria Queens and their attendants in the main pavillion.

Midnight The dancing kicks off with the traditional Pasodoble. This is followed by a Latin Festival into the early hours with entertainers, Latin DJ, gifts and surprises. Music and dance into the early hours with the resident DJ and hits from the 80s, 90s and modern day.

Friday August 9

7.30 pm Grand parade through the streets of Manilva accompanied by the “Chi Chi Pom” marching band.

10 pm Clown performance in the children’s zone of the main pavillion.

11 pm Dance performance by the Municipal Dance School directed by Ana Guerrero.

Midnight Music and dance in the main pavillion to the sounds of “Costa Pop”. Followed by resident DJ and hits from the 80s, 90s and modern day.

Saturday August 10

7.30 pm Grand parade through the streets of Castillo and Sabinillas accompanied by the “Chi Chi Pom” marching band. Leaves the Castle in Castillo at 7.30 pm and La Noria in Sabinillas around 8 pm (timings approximate).

10 pm Clown performance in the children’s zone of the main pavillion.

11 pm Performance by comedian Tony Rodríguez.

Midnight Music and dance in the main pavillion to the sounds of “Costa Pop”. Followed by resident DJ and hits from the 80s, 90s and modern day.

Sunday August 11

10 pm Magic show in the children’s zone of the main pavillion.

11 pm Performance by comedian Jesús Tapia.

Concert by Hombres G tribute band followed by the latest sounds from the resident DJ.

Manilva Full Moon Festival 2013

Manilva’s Tourism Department has announced the date for this year’s ‘Full Moon Festival’ which will be held on Saturday July 20 from 8.30 pm on the beach in Sabinillas.

Come and enjoy the music, fireworks, and relaxed atmosphere which marks this summer festival. All festival goers are invited to dress all in white, but it’s not obligatory!

Concerts on the promenade in Sabinillas this Friday

This Friday, July 19, from 11 pm there will be a concert featuring performances from the bands Town Bones, Mr Proper, and Mokeman & Rastrojo at the Plaza del Cali, in front of the statue on the Paseo Maritimo in Sabinillas.


Town Bones is a six piece band with a horn section bringing a funky twist to many rock and pop favourites.

Mr Proper is a Malaga band covering some of the best Spanish pop/rock of recent years.

Mokeman & Rastrojo two of the biggest artists in the local dub and reggae scene always put on a great show.

Castillo

5.00 pm – Ceremony to award the medals to the new members of the Brotherhood.

6.00 pm – A mass will be held at the parrish church in Castillo after which the procession will proceed to Duquesa where the Virgen will be placed on the chosen boat and then paraded up and down the coast accompanied by the rest of the ‘fleet’.

10 pm – Live music by the group ‘Latidos’ in the El Huerto Park next to the Castle until the early hours of the morning.

Sabinillas

12 noon – A mass will be held in the ‘Fishermen’s Square’ in Sabinillas. Later in the afternoon the statue of the Virgen will be carried to the beach in Sabinillas where it is placed on a fishing boat.

In the evening there will be entertainment with music and dancing into the early hours of the morning.
